Health practitioner advocates Acupuncture therapy

21 Nov 2024

Recent studies indicate that over 35 per cent of individuals in Botswana have experienced depression since May 2021, prompting Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist, Mr Baithuti Jerry to advocate for the five-point Acupuncture Detoxification Therapy as a vital intervention against the silent epidemic.

As the founder of Acudetox Clinics Botswana, Mr Jerry, 53, has dedicated more than five years to specialising in acupuncture detoxification, building on four years of academic training and 70 hours of practical experience.

His work is primarily focused on addressing trauma, substance misuse and various mental health conditions.

In an interview with BOPA, Mr Jerry underscored the dangers posed by foreign and harmful substances, whether derived from medication or other sources, which could lead to dependency or addiction and negatively impact vital organs.

He says the five-point NADA protocol has proven to be effective in helping individuals overcome various addictions, including alcohol, cigarettes, and problematic medication.

Mr Jerry’s technique prioritises relief from pain, stress, and fatigue through an innovative acupuncture methodology centered on the ear.

By strategically placing five needles on the auricular area, he stimulates systemic healing, thereby avoiding the use of medication and engaging the body’s innate ability to recover from the damaging effects of external substances.

For clients struggling with cigarette addiction, the process begins by reducing cravings without relying on oral medications.

Mr Jerry, who currently  primarily operates through referrals, is nearing the completion of a dedicated centre for in-person therapy.

Until that facility is ready, he continues to treat patients at the comfort of their homes, receiving some referrals from the Sandhurst Manor Acudetox Clinic in South Africa.

In his practical sessions, Mr Jerry collaborated with Sandhurst Manor patients under the supervision of his mentor, Mr Warren Whitfield, the Chairperson of NADA South Africa.

He typically recommends around three sessions to address issues related to addiction, pain relief, anxiety, stress, and fatigue, depending on the individual’s circumstances.

In specific cases, he may apply a seed or ‘bean’ behind the ear at the shenman point for a week, followed by evaluations to assess the patient’s progress.

To manage fatigue, stress, and anxiety, Mr Jerry allocates approximately 45 minutes per session to provide treatment using the five-point protocol.

This innovative approach offers hope and healing, establishing acupuncture detoxification as a crucial resource for individuals facing the psychological and physical challenges of addiction and mental health issues in Botswana.

Mr Charlie Nkile, one of the clients at Acudetox Clinics Botswana, highlights the therapy’s effectiveness.

He highly recommends the treatment to anyone struggling with similar conditions.

Mr Nkile recounted that months ago, he suffered from a stomach infection, and despite numerous tests  doctors could not identify the foreign impurities affecting his intestines.

In desperation, he decided to try the Five-Point NADA Protocol Healing, particularly the needle aspect, which ultimately led to his healing.

Following his session with Mr Jerry, further tests at the hospital revealed all impurities in his intestines through a scanning machine, leading to both amusement and disbelief since initially no impurities had been detected. ENDS
