In an effort to diversify the country’s revenue streams and open new markets for goods and services, government will access international capital, President Advocate Duma Boko, has said.
In his State-of-the-Nation Address in Gaborone on Tuesday, President Boko explained that government would begin to engage with international credit markets to raise capital for government development projects.
This, he said would help address fiscal deficits, finance infrastructure projects, and promote Botswana as a favourable destination for investment.
“In an interconnected world, we must strengthen our national security and develop strategic regional and international partnerships,” he said.
Further, to promote trade partnerships, he said government would also work closely with neighbouring countries and international organisations to explore new trade opportunities, as well as organised high-level government visits to strengthen ties with key trading partners and attract foreign investment to the country’s priority sectors.
