Government is dedicated to fulfilling its international obligations and remains committed to its membership in regional and international organisations such as Southern African Development Community (SADC), African Union (AU) and United Nations (UN) amongst others.
President Advocate Duma Boko said this when delivering the State-Of-the-Nation-Address in Gaborone, yesterday.
The President commended those who served under the SADC Mission in Mozambique, working tirelessly to establish peace and stability in the region.
“I wish to pay tribute to those who lost their lives during this noble mission”, he said. To ensure that the voice of Botswana was heard, President Boko said, collaboration with regional partners would be enhanced in the SADC and AU, further strengthening
Botswana’s role in regional and continental diplomacy.
“We will refocus our foreign policy to ensure that our advocacy voice is heard in the promotion of human rights, democracy, justice, good governance peace and security” said President Boko.
He further said that the capacity of diplomatic missions would be strengthened to effectively advance Botswana’s national interest on the global stage. Ends
