19 Nov 2024
Government is committed to providing healthcare professionals with the support they need to better serve the nation.
Delivering the his first State- of-the-Nation Address (SONA) yesterday, President Advocate Duma Boko said that physicians, nurses, allied healthcare professionals and administrators were often overlooked, yet they continued to dedicate themselves to serving people in their most vulnerable moments.
He said government was looking forward to design, develop and implement a sustainable health safety net that leaves no one behind.
“I want them to know that we value them, we appreciate them, we love them,” President Boko said.
He therefore said together government would build a health system that not only treats illness, but promoted health through predictive and preventative care. Additionally, he said government would roll out multiple initiatives, such as a national mandatory health insurance scheme to realise a universal health coverage plan for all citizens.
He said there would be a national health digitisation roadmap to modernise systems, as well as investment in infrastructure, capacity building, including human resources development and public awareness. Ends
