The Vice President, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe has emphasised the new government’s belief in national unity, that Botswana belonged to all Batswana and its leaders were public servants.

In a meet and greet kgotla meeting in Francistown’s Monarch on Saturday, the Vice President urged Batswana to unite.

He highlighted Botswana’s abundant natural resources, asserting that prudent management could improve everyone’s living standards.

He attributed the recent change in government to a divine intervention, calling it an act of God.

Mr Gaolathe said the outcome of the October general elections, which resulted in a change of government were incredible, in view of the length of tenure of the previous government.

Mr Gaolathe also acknowledged the peaceful transition of power from the previous administration.

He explained that the purpose of his meet-and-greet tour of Francistown, together with the previous ones of Tutume and Maitengwe, were meant to connect directly with the people, listen to their concerns, and appreciate first-hand the challenges and aspirations of the communities.

He said the enthusiastic reception throughout his tour highlighted the importance of grassroots engagements for fostering stronger community ties and informing government policies.

In a later interview, Kgosi Pepukae Makambe of Monarch Customary Court welcomed the Vice President’s visit to the second city.

He noted Francistown’s lack of official city status, opining that it was being surpassed by smaller towns.

Kgosi Makambe stated that Batswana were eager to support the newly elected government, viewing the election as a reflection of the people’s will.

In his vote of thanks, Francistown West MP also assistant Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Mr Ignatius Moswaane reaffirmed  government’s commitment in serving all Batswana. Ends
