No need for finger-pointing - Gaolathe

Batswana have been urged to unite and work together with the new leadership with a common goal of transforming the current status of the country’s economy.
Speaking at the meet and greet session, where he received warm welcome from the people of Tutume and peripheral villages, the Vice President, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe said there was no need to start pointing fingers, blaming anyone for the state of the economy the country was currently experiencing.
He, therefore, called on Batswana to work with the new leadership to transform the country into a vibrant economy such that they would enjoy the fruit of their voice which ultimately changed government.
Mr Gaolathe said the visit served as an opportunity to unite and connect with the people who raised him to be the man he was today.
“I have come to seek guidance and blessing from you as I embark on a new role to serve you as the Vice President and reinforce my commitment to serving the nation alongside President Advocate Duma Boko,” he said.
The Vice President emphasised that the recent appointment to serve in the highest office marked the beginning of a transformative journey for Botswana as a whole.
He further pledged that his government would build a Botswana in which its people would earn positions or get employment on the basis of their competencies. He said government coffers were in a bad shape and it required collective thinking and decision making to resuscitate them.
Mr Gaolathe said although it might take time for some promises made in the manifesto to be realised, government would work hard to deliver on them.
“We are aware that some people will be disappointed at the prolonged period of time but it will be for the best interest of the country as whole.”
The Vice President said already they had started to set up income generating stimulus that would open opportunities for young Batswana to get employment.
“Our aim is to build companies that will take advantage of our abundant sunlight to generate electricity and augment the current power plants that we have,” he noted
Meanwhile, Mr Alphonse Nsala who is also the Vice President’s uncle was pleased to hear Mr Gaolathe assuring people of a better Botswana.
We people will support and stand with you in your journey to serve Batswana and improve their lives, he said.
Mr Raymond Mfa, a student at Mc Connel College in Tutume said they were inspired by Mr Gaolathe’s appointment to the position of Vice President saying this would motivate them to work even harder in their studies. Ends
