Members of the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA), Hukuntsi branch have been urged to remain steadfast in their pursuit of attracting new members to join the church.
The call was made by Kgosi Kgotlafela Keolopile of Hukuntsi when addressing the congregation at the harvest and thanksgiving service which was organised by the church branch in Hukuntsi recently.
The church raised P87 820 during the service and the consolidated contributions came from other branches which include Tshane, Lehututu and Lekgwabe.
Cassandra, Hukuntsi Assemblies and Unity churches also donated in support of the UCCSA’s endeavour.
“We need to understand that we have the obligation to take charge and fulfil our role in performing the missionary work and ensuring that our people are able to repent and join us in the house of the Lord,” he said.
He implored the church to introspect and formulate a programme of action based entirely on repenting the lost souls, adding that this was the mandate which was previously performed by the founders of the church.
Mr Keolopile appealed to the congregants to attach in their roles, the importance of inviting new fellowship as their core value in the mission of conducting the duties of the Lord.
“The recipe for happiness and fulfilment as servants of God should come from the goodness of our hearts by teaching others to follow the good path of the Lord,” he said.
Mr Keolopile therefore urged the church members not to only focus on monetary contributions, but also understand that their fundamental mission encompassed attracting more members.
“I wish to urge all of you as vessels of the Lord to reach out to the sick, elderly and most of all attract new members in the process so that they can also experience the goodness of the Lord,” he said.
Mr Keolopile also underscored the need to help the needy, and further pleaded with church members to do so with spirit of love and compassion.
In his sermon, Pastor Kagiso Itshepheng of Hukuntsi Apostolic Faith Mission Church implored the congregation to develop the notion of thanksgiving even when they were going through either good or difficult times.
“It is necessary to give thanks even amid the challenges that we face on daily basis,” he said.
He appealed to the congregants to renew their thoughts adding that, it was only through such prospects that the village would become a better place for them. ENDS
