Universal Health Care top priority

In a significant move toward improving health care quality, President Mr Duma Boko has announced that the newly appointed Health Minister, Dr Steven Modise, will lead the implementation of a national health insurance system.
He emphasised the importance of revamping government health facilities to better align them with the evolving needs and demands of the new health care model, which aimed to ensure that health services were accessible, efficient and of high quality for all citizens.
Additionally, the President highlighted the need to modernise data management systems within the health sector.
“Dr Modise will be tasked with overseeing the integration of appropriate technologies to streamline operations and enhance the effectiveness of the new health care framework,” he said.
The President also confirmed that Mr Lawrence Ookeditse would serve as the assistant minister, supporting Dr Modise in these critical efforts to transform the health care landscape.
“This comprehensive approach aims to lay the groundwork for a sustainable and equitable health system that responds to the needs of the populace,” he said. ends
