Desert Nxau showed their mantle in front of multitudes of their supporters by holding former premier league team Prisons XI to a goalless draw at Tsabong VDC Ground on Saturday.

Both sides started the match in search for goals but failed to convert their chances.

Prisons dominated ball possession and had the ball in the net in the second half, but it was ruled offside much to the dismay of their supporters.

The Warders head coach Sylvester Madisa nearly got sent off for venting his misgivings about the match officials' decision.

"Our game went well. I am happy with the performance. We created so many chances but failed to convert. We wanted three points, but a point is better than nothing," Madisa said it an interview after the match.

Nxau caretaker coach Joseph Coetzee said the game went well as they were able to get a point on home ground even though their target was three points.

Coetzee however said his players were not aggressive enough towards the goal posts. He also said they failed to do enough to break Prisons' low block.

"At least to get a point is better than nothing. It means we have to work harder. It would have been painful to lose our first game on home ground. My worry is that we were able to win the ball but failed to arrive in the final third," he said.

Coetzee pointed that he was impressed with the performance of their new players such as attacking midfielder Boago 'Billy' Kekaetswe, central defensive midfielder Laone 'Foster' Mogapiwa, right back Otsile 'Cante' Katholo and winger Isaiah 'Chacharito' Tikka.

Boys to Men will welcome City Polar at Tsabong VDC Ground in their next match, while Prisons will take on Magosi FC at Riverplate Ground in Mochudi.

Meanwhile, in another match played on Saturday, Taung Young Strikers defeated Sand Diamonds 2-0 to climb to the top of the log. The match was played at Be Free Park in Taung.
