Giyani Metals support disabled

Giyani Metals has donated 14 wheelchairs and other mobility aids to People With Disabilities (PWDs) in Kanye.

The donation, valued at P100 000 aims to improve the quality of life for individuals facing mobility challenges and showcase the company’s commitment to supporting the community.

Giyani Metals Country Manager, Ms Elisa Modikwa noted that the initiative aligned with the company’s deliberate efforts to empower and support the community. 

“The company firmly believes in the importance of inclusivity, ensuring that everyone has equal opportunity to thrive and contribute to the society,” she said.

Ms Modikwa expressed her enthusiasm about the initiative, stating, ‘we are honoured to support the PWDs in Kanye through this donation. At Giyani Metals, we believe that everyone deserves equal opportunities and access to services. By providing these wheelchairs, we hope to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing mobility challenges.’

In addition to the 14 wheel chairs, the company also donated 4 crutches, 4 walking frames, mattresses and adult nappies.

Furthermore, Ms Modikwa informed the community that the company had been granted a mining licence and preparations to start operations were currently on going.

In his remarks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Lemogang Kwape thanked Giyani Metals for the kind gesture.

He pleaded with other organisations to consider the plight of less privileged people in society by including them in their allocations to  alleviate their plight.

Dr Kwape also called for balance in the distribution of the donated items for the benefit of those who were desperately in need of them at the moment.

Moreover, the minister expressed pleasure about the progress of the mine, saying it would bring new developments in the village. He also urged the management of the company to always consult the village leadership and join hands in the development of the village.

Giyani Metals is a mineral resource company focused on the advancement of its manganese assets within Kanye. ends
