The Botswana Republican Party (BRP) is the only party that has published its manifesto in three Languages: English, Setswana and Ikalanga, BRP deputy leader, Mr Moiseraela Goya has said.
Speaking during launch the of party manifesto and parliamentary candidate for Tati West Constituency Mr Biggie Butale, Mr Goya said although the party intended to translate the manifesto into other languages found in Botswana.
Mr Goya said this would ensure a wider comprehension of the manifesto.
“The manifesto is meant for the people to understand the party and where it is leading to, including what the party offers the electorate in a simplified language,” he said.
Mr Goya said according to the manifesto, BRP intended to fight against poverty, hunger, unemployment, inequality, corruption and abuse of power.
He stated that the party manifesto was a weapon that would be used to fight other challenges like shortage of drugs in government health facilities and crime in a country that was rich like Botswana.
He pleaded with the electorate to vote for Mr Butale, who was a resident of Tati West Constituency and familiar with challenges and other developmental needs in the area.
“Mr Butale has achieved a lot in the constituency as many structures were erected during his tenure as Member of Parliament,” he said, adding that Mr Butale bought a tractor for farmers to use during ploughing seasons.
Mr Goya urged voters to elect Mr Butale to continue developments from where he left off.
He described Mr Butale as an eloquent speaker, which earned him nomination to represent Botswana at the Pan African Parliament.
He said BRP was pledging to create jobs for the youth and Batswana, which it could achieve if voted into power during the coming elections.
The BRP chairperson for Tati West Constituency, Mr Patrick Maphorisa, said the party was formed to improve lives of Batswana and build the country that was facing economic turmoil at the hands of Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
Mr Maphorisa said it was not easy to build the new party but with the help of capable leadership it was possible.
He noted that his party did not believe in giving out handouts to voters in return for votes.
For his part,Mr Butale, who is also BRP President, said by voting for his party, the country would never be the same again.
He said for a long time, people with no ideas and technological know-how and having nothing to offer Batswana were made leaders.
“In Tati West, I pride myself with academic results of Masunga Secondary School as I promised that if voted it will attain position one in BGCSE,” he said, adding that the academic results went down under a different MP.
He promised that if voted he would revive them and all junior secondary schools to be on among the top 10 in the country.
Mr Butale promised to build computer labs for schools in Tati West constituency and to revive all the community trusts that had collapsed under BDP government.
He said Masunga Trust would also be resuscitated and its three hectare plot located between Masunga and Vukwi would be developed with construction of a big shopping mall which would create jobs.
He promised to build 10 houses for the poor and acquire 10 farms for the poor, assist with de-bushing, fencing for them to plough and be able to feed themselves. ENDS
