BPF promises to improve health sector

The Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) chairperson, Mr Carter Morupisi says that top on their agenda is introducing Health Insurance Fund to enable all Batswana to have access to quality medical care.
Speaking at the launch of the Jwaneng/Mabutsane parliamentary candidate, Mr Mephato Reatile and council candidates in Jwaneng on Saturday, Mr Morupisi underscored the need to overhaul the health sector, which he said was deteriorating.
He said his party was concerned about the economic situation of the country, owing from a decline in diamond sales.
He also said the high unemployment rate, particularly among young graduates, called for a change in government.
He implored constituents to vote for Mr Reatile, to safeguard the future of their children and in extension save the country.
He underscored the need to vote for a leader who had integrity and possessed high level of responsibility.
Additionally, Mr Morupisi refuted claims that the BPF was a Serowe-based party, and urged Jwaneng/Mabutsane residents to vote in large numbers to set the record straight.
“You should sacrifice yourselves and vote for Mr Reatile so that he can lead this country. Make sure that you make history by having a Botswana president from Mabutsane,” he said.
Jwaneng former mayor, Mr Amos Jahana said Batswana should save their country’s economy by ousting the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
He said diamonds had been the economic mainstay for a long time due to good governance by former presidents, but the cracks started showing under the current leadership.
“The economy is currently facing challenges due to poor leadership by the current BDP administration. It is time for you to vote out the BDP since it has failed Batswana,” he said.
In addition, Mr Jahana said the BDP-led government continued to use the inefficiency of the Government Accounting and Budgeting System as a scapegoat for poor service delivery yet it was evident that the country was facing a recession.
He said there was need to vote for BPF to save the deteriorating state of affairs across all sectors.
For his part, Mr Reatile, who is also the BPF presidential candidate said apart from improving the country’s health system, they also intended to call a financial pitso once they were voted into power.
He said this would bring together all stakeholders to audit and assess the state of the national coffers and subsequently map a way forward.
He urged Batswana to vote for his party in large numbers.
“The economy of this country is in shambles because of the incompetent BDP which has evidently run out of ideas. I urge you to vote for BPF so that we can rebuild our economy together,” he said. Ends
