Masisi appeals for votes in Ngami

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) leader,  President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has appealed to Ngami constituents to vote for his party.

President Dr Masisi  said this during a star rally in Gumare on Saturday.

He encouraged residents to vote for the BDP’s Secretary General, Mr Kavis Kario, emphasising his capability to represent the constituents effectively in Parliament. “BDP is the only party that has demonstrated influential ideas aimed at improving the lives of Batswana,” stated President Masisi.

He highlighted initiatives such as free electricity connections and Chema Chema, which has facilitated the funding of viable businesses with over P360 million utilised since its inception. He urged Batswana to continue applying for the programme, noting that the funding threshold of P500 million has not yet been met.

The President asserted that the BDP-led government was committed to empowering citizens economically with programmes that provide tangible benefits, contrasting his party with opposition parties that he described as offering empty promises of financial aid without clear plans for funding.

In addressing infrastructure improvements, President Masisi outlined plans for enhancing water supply in Gumare and the construction of sewage pipelines.

He also shared details about the government’s initiative to build a large pump in Pandamatenga, which will draw water from the Chobe River to supply Maun with 40 per cent of its water needs.

Minister of Transport and Public Works Mr Eric Molale said had proved its mettle in handling hardships such as drought, Contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) and COVID-19. Therefore he urged residents to vote for the BDP.

Assistant Minister of Agriculture Mr Molebatsi Molebatsi said Mr Kario was a capable leader who would represent the constituents  interests well.

He said  through President Masisi leadership, there were programmes aimed at addressing poverty and empowering Batswana such as Temo Letlotlo.

For his part, Mr Kavis Kario said BDP was the only party with an exemplary leader in President Masisi who was a transparent and valued consultations.

Mr Kario therefore appealed to Batswana to vote for the BDP and its leadership saying their vote was important as it contributed to the formation of government. Ends
