Chiefs crush Santos by five goals

After making a u-turn to the premiership on the table rather than in the field of play, a common belief was that Mochudi Centre Chiefs will struggle to hold up as they were not ‘tried and tested’.
However, the Kgatleng giants continue to put up a stellar performance weekend in and out in the FNB Premiership.
Their best performance was reserved for Saturday at the National Stadium when they buried five goals against Union Flamengo Santos without a response.
Despite all that, gaffer, Enos Mmesi warned that supporters should not be carried away as that might put unnecessary pressure of expectations on the team.
“It is a good win but this is a marathon, the league has just started and we should not be carried away by just five goals. Maybe Santos played under a toll and did not have enough squad to rotate like we have that luxury," he said.
He said his team needed to keep its discipline in every game that they play.
He said they approached games without any much expectation, but just to win and that if a game opened up, they had that ability to score goals.
Mmesi however, cautioned his players about doing unnecessary fancy dribblings as he said that might be a sign of indiscipline and undermining an opponent.
He also appreciated Magosi’s executive for their support in ensuring that they had a good pre-season, which he said was a result of the current good performance.
Losing assistant coach, Thabo Mothibi said the game was a disaster for his team.
“We never really came to the party. All the goals that we conceded were schoolboy errors, they were so simple and at the same time we struggled to reach their box while we allowed them to easily reach ours,” he said.
He therefore admitted that his team needed to pull up its socks as a lot of work needed to be done, and that their performance against Chiefs was intolerable.
He said their major challenge at the moment was their fitness level, which he admitted was not at the level of a premier league.
“Even our defence is a challenge. We have conceded so much in our first four games,” he said.
Mothibi was however, hopeful that his team would improve as they got more games.
“From each game, we try and note as much positives and negatives as we can so that we can build on those. We will have to find a way forward quickly because the situation is getting tougher," he said.
He said one of the positive factors was that they could rotate the ball well, even though he indicated that the problem was that such rotating was mostly done where it did not hurt the opponent.
“We rotate it well from the back and into the midfield, but when we get into the final third where it matters the most, we are either indecisive or make bad choices,” he said.
He therefore said he was positive that if they could address such, the performance would become much better.
Magosi took the lead when Lesego Kebonang flicked into his own net in an attempt to clear a Thatayaone Ramatlapeng cross.
Further goals came through Bogosi Mfila, Bakang Mpatane, Pako Gaofose and Chicco Molefe. Ends
