Community projects boost local economy -Autlwetse

  Community projects are cornerstone of building strong economic relationships. 

 Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse said this during a ground breaking ceremony of Morula processing project for Matsheng Development Trust in Shadishadi on Wednesday.

Minister Autlwetse said community trusts were essential for cultivating and nourishing healthy reciprocal relationships,increasing equitable access to resources and supporting an effective and connected citizenry.-        

“I hope this will enrich lives and make a significant impact on rural development,” he said       

    He said community developments initiatives collectively strive to break the cycle of poverty and empower individuals especially people living in remote areas to fully realise their potential. 

 Furthermore he said, Morula processing project was a testament of government’s effort of transforming community trusts to brace the economy and transitioning the country into a knowledge-based economy. 

Mr Autlwetse said an estimated amount of P1 million was awarded to Matsheng Development Trust to refurbish and expand its building to a modern day structures.

 Reflecting on the natural conservation, Mr Autlwetse said preservation movement focused on protecting species from extinction, maintaining and restoring habitants, enhancing ecosystem services and protecting biological diversity. 

  “Careful maintenance and upkeep of natural resources prevent it from extinction, therefore it is important to protect Morula trees to prevent it from deteriorating due to human activities,” Mr Autlwetse said.

He urged communities to be keen to partner with natural environmental conservationist and had high end clients who could purchase their products and experience the beauty of natural resources.

In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Keotshephile Gabanakgosi of Shadishadi applauded Kgosi Gabanakgosi said this kind of initiatives created a strong community as it fostered a sense of community pride and inter-connectedness.

Kweneng District Council chairperson, Mr Allen Jacob advised the community to work together to support Matsheng Trust and make positive impact in the community to promote sustainability and strengthen local economy. Matsheng Development Trust comprises of five villages being Lephepe, Boatlaname, Shadishadi, Loologane and Sojwe. ENDS
