Voters in Kgatleng West have been asked to vote for the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) candidate for Kgatleng West during the national elections billed for October 30.

During the launch of Kgatleng West parliamentary candidate in Pilane on Saturday, Mr Daniel Molokwe, voters were reminded to reflect on the party’s longstanding leadership since independence, positioning the BDP as the most experienced compared to its less tested opposition.

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Mabuse Pule, said the BDP had stood the test of time and that it had delivered on its promises that were on the election pledge card for 2019.

Among those, he said the BDP leadership had in the last five years, managed to fight the unforeseen circumstances imposed by COVID-19 pandemic, improved relations with other countries and improved livelihoods of the rural communities through initiatives such as free electricity connections and revitalised rural economised through some impactful projects.

In that regard, he said, when voting for Mr Molokwe, they would be voting for the BDP, which was the right party to continue leading the country.

He added that BDP programmes were in place to continue the development agenda and improve the livelihood of Batswana.

He said Mr Molokwe’s track record spoke volumes, as he was already part of the district leadership having served as a council chairperson for Kgatleng.

He described him, as a good communicator who had wealth of experience in many areas and that he was good in conflict resolution.

“Mr Molokwe is well experienced and has served in different party structures,” he said.

One of the BDP veterans, Ms Maruapula Pilane, begged voters to trust Mr Molokwe with their vote so that he could continue the positive contributions he impacted on the society among them, the academic excellence awards schools competition initiative, which she said Mr Molokwe sponsored to improve academic performance and competition in schools.

As a former school head, she said Mr Molokwe contributed immensely to Kgatleng schools’ academic performance.

“I am here as a witness and someone who knows Molokwe, and I plead with you to vote for him. He is a people’s person and your vote will not be lost in him,” she said.

BDP activist, Mr Alec Seametso, said Mr Molokwe was not only familiar with the needs of the constituents, but also represented a party that had better programmes and policies.

He encouraged the constituents to vote for Mr Molokwe and his council candidates, emphasising the importance of supporting President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s continued leadership.

For his part, Mr Molokwe appealed to the Kgatleng West residents that comprises Bokaa, Pilane, Morwa, Rasesa, Dikgonnye, Kgomodiatshaba, Artesia and Leshibitse to support him and his prospective council candidates who were dedicated to addressing the community’s challenges.

He pledged that, if elected, they would collaborate with local structures to represent the interests of all constituents.  Ends
