Umbrella for Democratic Change leader (UDC), Advocate Duma Boko has appealed to Batswana to vote the party in large numbers as they intend to change lives.
Advocate Boko said this during the launch of the party’s parliamentary and council candidates in Palapye on Sunday.
He said some of the changes UDC would make were to focus on growing the country’s economy, increasing the wages of the low- paid workers and increasing old age pensions.
He said the pension of the elderly would be P1 800 while the allowance for the low-skilled workers would start from P4 000.
He said the UDC government would also focus on caring for the child after birth and they would be given P300.
Batswana, he said, should make the decision to change the situation during elections. “You must remember the situation you have been living in,’’ he said.
Advocate Boko pleaded with voters in Palapye constituency to vote for Mr Onneetse Ramogapi and 16 council candidates, adding that Mr Ramogapi was brave and advocated for their needs in Parliament.
He said Mr Ramogapi had been able to request for the construction of a hospital and roads in Palapye and the developments had already started.
Parliamentary candidate for Tswapong South, Mr Shadrack Baaitse urged Batswana to remove Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) from government and vote for UDC.
Mr Baaitse said the BDP government had been in power for years but Batswana continued to suffer due to unemployment. Ends
