Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) promises to elevate Botswana to a high income economy in line with vision 2036.

Vice President Slumber Tsogwane said this during a political rally in Rakops on Tuesday. He said BDP intended to offer Batswana programmes that could sustain their lives and create wealth.

The objective, he said, was to promote value chain development to create opportunities for faster economic growth such as boosting productivity and job creation. Mr Tsogwane, who is also the Boteti West parliamentary candidate, said to drive value chain development the BDP-led government was determined to improve agricultural programmes.

He said Temo Letlotlo aimed to enhance food production and reduce food imports thereby boosting food security and increasing the income of small scale farmers. Mr Tsogwane said they were selling BDP with its realistic and impactful programmes, citing Chema Chema which aims to upgrade small-medium enterprises.

Furthermore, he said with the leadership of President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, Makgadikgadi game proof fence had been relocated to its original location as desired by the people of Boteti. He indicated that the hunting ban had been lifted to address human-wildlife conflict which was rife in Boteti.

Tsienyane West ward council candidate Mr John Mozeu pleaded with the constituents to vote for him. He said opposition parties dismissed programmes introduced by the BDP-led government like Youth Development Fund but benefited from them.

Council Candidate for Tsienyane East Mr Batsweletse Kgagamedi urged residents to vote in favour of the BDP because it had programmes that could develop and elevate their economic status. Mr Kgagamedi said the people of Rakops now have access to potable water because the BDP-led government fulfilled its promise. ENDS
