Government will spend over P528 million for the construction and maintenance project of a 52km-road for Borobadilepe, Hebron and Mokatako.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Hebron yesterday, Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mr Eric Molale said the three-year project would open opportunities for employment, manufacturing, agriculture and informal sector.
He further encouraged residents to invest and explore new opportunities so that they could benefit from the project, adding that a citizen-owned company had been engaged to ensure that it created employment opportunities for the residents.
The project has been allocated to Landmark Projects company, a 100 per-cent wholly citizen-owned company and Minister Molale pleaded with the contractor to deliver quality project, within budget and on time.
Landmark Projects operations manager, Mr Norman Maguna assured the minister that the company would deliver the project on time and use government funds according to the public’s expectations.
He reaffirmed the company’s dedication to excellence, safety and sustainability in all aspects of the project so as to deliver a road that stood as a symbol of progress for generations to come.
Also, he said the company had programmes geared towards empowerment of the community as a way of giving back.
Kgosi Aobakwe Phetlhu of Hebron praised the residents for their patience saying they had been waiting for such a development in their village.
He highlighted that the signing ceremony was not just about appending a signature on project documents, but also to engage the community to demonstrate how it would be carried out and how government funds would be used.
He urged residents to cooperate and work cordially with the contractor for smooth sailing of the construction of the road. ENDS
