Official calls for more human resources at Tutume District Council

Tutume District Council needs more officers to help serve the community better, says council secretary, Mr Joseph Batsalelwang.

Briefing Assistant Minister for State President, Ms Boitumelo Gofhamodimo during a meeting with public servants in Nata recently, Mr Batsalelwang said vacant positions were yet to be filled following the upgrading of Tutume from a sub district to a full district.

He said the district serviced a wide area consisting of two constituencies of Nata/Gweta and Nkange, with headquarters in Tutume.

He further said they had resourced Nata Service Centre so that the community could be served well without going to Tutume for services.

He added that despite limited resources the district was doing its level best to meet service standards.

Meanwhile, Ms Gofhamodimo said government was doing its best to address shortage of accommodation for public servants as evidenced by the recent ground breaking for the commencement of Botswana Housing Corporation thirty housing units in Nata.

On other issues the assistant minister urged committees such as Village Extension Team and Technical Advisory Committee to be functional as they were important stakeholders in the running of village affairs.

She encouraged them to seek advise from the district commissioner, if they encountered challenges.

Ms Gofhamodimo was responding Kgosi Justin Ntuane of Nata, who in his welcome remarks, said the committees were non functional in the village. ENDS
