Every child regardless of their background deserves a chance to succeed and contribute meaningfully to the society, says Botswana Insurance Holdings Limited (BIHL) Trust board member, Professor Rosaleen Nhlekisana.
Speaking at a handing over ceremony of P150 000 donation to Delta Waters Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) scholarship programme on Friday, Prof. Nhlekisana said the donation represented their commitment to education and belief in the potential of every child.
Prof. Nhlekisana said the gesture sought to improve livelihoods, something they regarded highly.
The donation is a path to empowerment, as we to ensure that children from disadvantaged backgrounds have equal opportunities to pursue their education and realise their potential, she said.
With each sponsor, she said they were investing in not just the future of the children but the future of the nation. She therefore appreciated Delta Waters OVC programme dedicated to transforming the lives of academically gifted children who faced significant barriers due to their circumstances.
“These young individuals are future leaders, innovators and change makers and by providing them with access to education, skills development and essential resources, we open doors to opportunities that might otherwise remain closed.
Our actions today will echo through generations, shaping the legacy of our beloved nation,” said Prof. Nhlekisana.
Through the BIHL trust, she said they would continue supporting educational activities because they firmly believed that by investing in youth, they were cultivating a brighter future for everyone.
She thanked teachers for their steadfast commitment to making education better and pushing boundaries for learners thus encouraged other stakeholders to come on board and ensure that every child had the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
BIHL Trust donation is part of its ongoing efforts to extend assistance to schools catering to orphans and vulnerable children in the northern region of the country.
Delta Waters School learner, Lorraine Sango expressed gratitude on behalf of other learners and the entire school, to BIHL for touching their lives.
She thanked the trust leadership for their unwavering support towards education sector noting that the donation had given hope to countless learners who might otherwise had faced challenges in completing their studies.
“This support is not just a financial assistance but a gift of opportunity to dream, learn and excel.
We are inspired by your belief that through hard work and commitment, we can shape our own futures,” said Lorraine.
She acknowledged that the trust leadership did not only lighten their financial burden, but also provided them with encouragement to pursue their dreams with confidence. Ends
