Masisi launches Mahalapye West candidate

13 Oct 2024

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has urged electorate across the country to re-elect Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) back into power by electing its parliamentary candidates.

He said this on Saturday in Mahalapye during the launch of Mahalapye West parliamentary candidate Mr Mompati Ntapu and council candidates.

He said he still wanted to continue as President adding that he did not doubt himself because his skills and experience were better than those of his competitors.

He said the BDP was better organised and not confused as the opposition parties.

Dr Masisi called on Mahalapye West constituents to vote for Mr Ntapu and council candidates, saying Mr Ntapu was a respected man known for his commitment and hard work having served the community well before.

President Masisi urged Mahalapye West voters not to make the mistake they made in 2019 of voting for the opposition, but should vote for a responsible and honest leader being Mr Ntapu.

He called on BDP members to work hard and solicit votes from all voters, including from opposition parties.

He said BDP had come a long way with good governance and respect for the rule of law.

Dr Masisi said BDP made commitments to the people, which it could only fulfil if voters elected parliamentary and council candidates representing BDP.

He said opposition parties had a habit of peddling untruths, adding they always claimed ruling BDP was stealing from Batswana, which was not the case.

He urged Batswana to stop voting for opposition parties because they do not have their best interest at heart adding that they continued to oppose Chema Chema, Thuo Letlotlo and Temo Letlotlo programmes introduced by BDP led government to better the lives of Batswana.

The President said at present, 451 people in Mahalapye West applied for Chema Chema programme.

He said the programmes would  continue to assist constituents, provided Batswana renewed the BDP mandate to rule.

On development issues, President Masisi said BDP led government made great progress citing that through prudent use of public funds projects such as road networks, improvement of water supply across villages and construction of medical facilities were carried out.

Mahalapye West parliamentary candidate comes highly recommended as the people’s choice, Shoshong parliamentary candidate Mr Aubrey Lesaso said, .

Council candidate for Mmaphula central in Palapye Ms Allen Ntshekisang said Mr Ntapu who was a former district commissioner was a strong leader and was dedicated to the rule of law.

He therefore pleaded with Mahalapye West constituents to vote for Mr Ntapu.

For his part, Mr Ntapu promised President Dr Masisi that he was ready and would diligently serve Batswana. Ends
