Letlhakane police have raised concern about murder incidents in the area.

Following recent murder incidents that happened in Mokubilo, Letlhakane police leadership convened a meeting with residents on Wednesday where  Superintendent Michael Maphephu aired concerns and worries about the high crime rate in the area.

In an interview with BOPA, Inspector Albert Titie of Letlhakane Police, said on October 1 it was reported that a 20-year-old woman was alleged to have stabbed and killed her 35-year-old boyfriend with a sharp object following a misunderstanding.

In another incident Inspector Titie said, a 42-year-old woman was helping police in connection with the death of her 59-year-old boyfriend whom it was alleged she stabbed with a sharp object following a misunderstanding on October 5. Another incident was of attempted murder which occurred in Makgaba, a few kilometers from Mokubilo.

Inspector Titie said a few days after Independence Day, a 21-year-old man, on a mission to kill her girlfriend, went to her house where she stayed with her parents and randomly fired gunshots from a distance. A stray bullet hit one of the family members on the leg. Fortunately, no life was lost in the said incident.

Inspector Titie highlighted that in most instances, such incidents happened after drinking sprees at bars or shebeens. He therefore implored Batswana to drink responsibly. ENDS
