Mmusi dedicated leader- Autlwetse

Gabane/Mmankgodi residents have been implored to give their full support to the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) MP candidate for their constituency, Mr Kagiso Mmusi.

Speaking at the launch of the parliamentary candidate and council candidates for the constituency at Gabane on October 5, BDP veteran, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse spoke highly of Mr Mmusi, calling him a people's person with leadership skills that were evident even from a young age.

"He has the heart and qualities of a true leader. His name, Mmusi, means leader in Setswana, which means he is destined to lead,"said Mr Autlwetse.

He went on to highlight that Mr Mmusi's dedication to his constituents was unmatched. He said his successful effort to secure private scholarships for individuals in Gabane/Mmankgodi constituency to study in India, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic was admirable.

"This shows the extent to which Mr Mmusi cares about the people he represents," he said, adding that even in the midst of a global crisis, he did not let obstacles stand in the way of his efforts to improve the lives of his constituents.

Mr Palelo Motaosane, Thamaga/Kumakwane parliamentary candidate, shared his experiences with Mr Mmusi, emphasising his generosity and determination to enhance the lives of his constituents.

He said Mr Mmusi was a compassionate individual who wanted to see everyone achieve their full potential, citing as an example, scholarships that he secured through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) for individuals in his constituency to pursue higher education and professional development opportunities.

Mr Motaosane noted that Mr Mmusi’s commitment to infrastructure development was evident in his efforts to secure funding for the Mogoditshane-Kumakwane-Mmankgodi road and the Gabane-Tloaneng road. Mr Motaosane also said  Mr Mmusi’s tenure as Minister of Defence and Security was evidence of his effective leadership.

He noted that, under Mr Mmusi's guidance, government made the decision to hire special constables as full time police officers or constables, providing income for 1 000 individuals and their families. Mr Motaosane further stated that Mr Mmusi was also handling the ex-Botswana Defence Force pensioners matter with care, addressing their needs and concerns. Molepolole South parliamentary candidate,

Mr Kabo Morwaeng praised Mr Mmusi's character and competency, which he said was demonstrated by his appointment as Minister of Defence and Security. Mr Morwaeng again lauded President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi's decision to appoint Mr Mmusi as Minister of Defence and Security, emphasising that the President's faith in Mr Mmusi's leadership abilities was well-founded, as he had proven himself to be reliable and efficient in his handling of national security matters.

Mr Morwaeng further stated that Mr Mmusi's character was not driven by personal ambition or gain but rather by a genuine desire to serve the nation.

"Mr Mmusi is not someone who seeks power or prestige for himself, but rather a humble leader who is dedicated to the welfare of all Batswana,” he added.

During our time working together in the Cabinet, he consistently demonstrated his commitment to the betterment of our nation,” he said.

For his part, Mr Mmusi outlined his vision for the Gabane/Mmankgodi constituency, highlighting the progress he had already made in terms of infrastructure development. He said his first goal was to connect the villages in his constituency through the creation of new roads and other vital infrastructure.

"I am proud to say that we have already achieved this, but our work is not yet done. I am committed to continuing to develop our constituency if re-elected to Parliament," he said.

The Gabane/Mmankgodi constituency boasts a voter base of 16 113 individuals who have registered to participate in the upcoming general elections. ENDS
