Embrace blended families self-acceptance

Women have been urged to embrace blended families and love their partner’s children as their own to create harmony in the home.
Speaking at the Miss to Mrs Bridal Experience, held on Saturday at Protea Hotel, guest speaker Ms Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego shared her personal journey of blending her family.
To foster unity among the children and helping them understand that they are part of one family she said partners should avoid selfishness and love each child equally. While acknowledging that such process can be challenging, she said respecting each child’s individuality and listening to their needs was crucial to preventing emotional harm.
Ms Lebotse-Sebego said her blended family thrived because of the deep love she has for her husband’s children, which allowed peace to prevail in their home, despite occasional challenges.
On the theme of self-acceptance and living authentically, another speaker Ms Nana Kgosidialwa encouraged women to embrace who they were, and advised attendees to believe in themselves and to let go of any negative self-talk.
To symbolise this, she had participants write down something they disliked about themselves, which they then tore up, representing the act of letting go. She reminded the women that as adults, they needed to be content with their choices, be free from guilt or uncertainty.
In an interview Ms Tumi Deane, the brains behind the Miss to Mrs Bridal Experience, said the event was designed to empower, uplift, and inspire women.
“Miss to Mrs Bridal Experience delivered a rich programme that included inspiring talks from renowned speakers, interactive workshops, and opportunities to connect with leading experts in various fields crucial to women’s empowerment,” she said.
The event featured sessions on legal education by lawyers Ms Pusetso Olsen and Ms Wame Thanke, where attendees learned about wills and trusts. Other topics included marriage contracts, financial planning, feminine hygiene, health, and wellness, providing women with the tools and knowledge to thrive in every aspect of their lives.
Deane added that the event also offered networking opportunities, allowing women to connect with top professionals and fellow brides-to-be, fostering a supportive community.
“The Miss to Mrs Bridal Experience is more than just a gathering; it’s an empowerment platform designed to educate and uplift women,” she said. Ends
