Sefalana Jwaneng branch remains resolute in efforts to contribute towards the Reset Agenda and playing a role towards local development.

This was said by Sefalana Regional Manager-West, Mr Mazola Obonetse in an interview on the sidelines of a clean-up campaign that was held around the Jwaneng monument on Sunday.

As part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, Sefalana Jwaneng branch employees braced the Sunday morning weather to embark on a clean-up campaign which entailed grass cutting, trimming trees, cleaning pavements and collecting all debris around the area,

Mr Obonetse said the initiative was part of the company’s vision of giving back and making an impact on the communities it operate within.

“As a business, we are also intentional about contributing towards the Reset Agenda and playing a role towards local development. One of the objectives of our 2025 vision is Corporate Social Responsibility hence we felt obliged to have an input in the development of the township. We saw a gap in the housekeeping standards of this monumental place, particularly that it is situated along the Trans-Kalahari Highway which is used by international tourists,” he said.

He said the monument was a significant feature for tourists’ attraction, hence its upkeep was important for both the township and the entire country.

He said their goal was to continue to collaborate with government to advance socio-economic development programmes within the communities.

He noted that their focus was mainly on more impactful and sustainable initiatives such as cleaning, as compared to once-off donations.

“We are not only going to stop here, we will also look at other gaps where we can participate because we support the Reset Agenda objectives,” Mr Obonetse said. He applauded their supplier partners who also contributed cleaning material and equipment towards the exercise.

Meanwhile, District Officer-Development, Ms Malebogo Basima recently implored heads of departments and the Jwaneng community to intensify the district’s clean-up campaign in preparation for the independence holidays and beyond.

Ms Basima underscored the need to maintain high standards of cleanliness to preserve the aesthetic image of Jwaneng as home to the world’s richest diamond mine.

She noted that ensuring active participation by the community would promote a sense of responsibility hence ensure continuity to keep the town sparkling.

“It is important that the community is actively involved in these campaigns so that we all take responsibility for the cleanliness of the town. The overall objective is to ensure that this becomes a lifestyle not a once-off exercise,” she noted. ENDS
