Different churches in Botswana have been called to be at the forefront in driving the mindset change concept and the transformation agenda.

Gaborone Ministers Fraternal chairperson, Reverend Reuben Moatlhodi made the call during a combined national church service at Boipuso Hall in Gaborone on yesterday.

Acting President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane and wife, Ms Magdeline Tshambane-Tsogwane and other dignitaries who included, Chief Justice Terrence Rannowane, Cabinet Ministers and other senior government officials, attended the combined church service held ahead of this year’s 58th Independence Day anniversary celebrations.

The church service themed:Mindset Change: Transforming Minds, Shaping Botswana’s Destiny, was organised by the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture and aimed to bring together churches for intercessory prayers for, among others, rain, remedy to social ills, leadership as well as fair and safe general election.

Delivering the sermon, Rev. Moatlhodi told congregants that Botswana was a nation renowned for peace and tranquility and should, therefore, remain faithful and hopeful knowing that peace would continue to prevail over the country, even during the general election scheduled for October 30.

He also encouraged the church to remain humble and principled, abiding by the doctrines and teachings of the Lord, saying everything was possible with Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour as well as the foundation of the church.

“It is us who are supposed to be doing all this as the church. We have been given the authority to use deliver, lose and bind anything that can stand against the will of God,” he added.

Again, he said the church should be found deep-rooted in God when the winds of change prevailed against the church of Jesus Christ and the nation.

Earlier, in his welcome remarks, Gaborone Ministers Fraternal secretary, Pastor Nchunga Nchunga assured the nation that the church would continue to pray and join forces with government to protect and build the country. ends
