The Mamba Mountain Bike (MTB) Cycling Challenge, which was held at Madison Square on Saturday, has been hailed as a success.
The event was a collaborative effort by Life Cycle Events and Timing, Cycle4Life and Tsela Riders cycling clubs.
In an interview after the event, Gobona Mantle of Life Cycle Events and Timing, said the event went well as both clubs’ leadership and members were hands on and assisted with the event especially on the route, which was very technical particularly for beginners.
In a world of competitive cycling events, collaboration is important and crucial for the success of the race, and not only financially, but also in resources and expertise; which the two cycling clubs brought to the race.
Their technical expertise elevated the 20km and 40km Mamba MTB cycling challenge on the route making the event safe and challenging for the riders.
The route’s technical profile needed more experienced and skilled techniques of MTB and new riders tried their best and endured the grueling terrain, some falling and some getting punctures.
In the end, they reached the finish point and were awarded their medals for their bravery.
The Mamba Mountain Bike cycling challenge did not have monetary prizes, due to lack of financial sponsorship, nevertheless that did not deter cycling sport enthusiasts to participate in the challenge.
The challenge was also used as a preparatory training event for some Cycle4Life club members, who are scheduled to compete at the Munga Grit race in South Africa this week.
Although the Munga Grit is a tougher and longer distance endurance ride, the Mamba MTB challenge terrain was perfect for the team as it prepared them for their challenge in South Africa. ENDS
