Township Rollers launch new players kit
16 Sep 2024
Township Rollers’ five-year partnership with Sebata Group has already achieved several key milestones, signifying that the deal to 2029 would be impactful.
This was said by the new club president, Tendani Sebata at the pre-season launch for the 2024 season at the team’s training facilities in Tlokweng over the weekend.
The launch also included unveiling of the team’s new players and kit.
Sebata said the milestones included the retention of key players, which saw the team extend nine contracts to ensure that it was better positioned to excel locally and regionally.
He also expressed his gratitude to all players who have decided to remain with Township Rollers.
“Thank you for believing in the bigger picture, for giving us a chance to make magic together. Together, we will reclaim our spot as Botswana’s most successful football club,” he said.
Another highlight, he said, was securing a safe training ground at the Royal Aria Stadium.
He said players needed to be provided with the best of everything to propel their performance and livelihoods.
Sebata said the technical team was also committed to ensuring full provision of the best training resources for enhanced performance.
“My key priorities include creating a legacy that entails a solid succession plan for both our management and players.
My vision is to see our development team and the ladies team come out of their shells and shine like Botswana diamonds,” he said, adding that they were executing a strategic plan to ensure the success of all their teams.
“I am confident that the impact will be felt and seen sooner rather than later,” said Sebata.
Club chairman, Bafana Pheto said Sebata was a visionary man whose goal was to create a lasting legacy in the social and economic lives of the entire Township Rollers family.
“We were not just looking for any sponsor, we were looking for a passionate, visionary, empathetic and compassionate investor whose devotion was sustainable development, and not just someone interested in making money through the club,” he said.
He added that it was easy to pick Sebata because his roadmap prioritised players well-being.
Former Township Rollers mentor, Madinda Ndlovu urged Rollers players to make their new financier proud and make the brand big again.
He advised them to remain focused and to avoid social ills such as drug and alcohol abuse.
Ndlovu also urged the club’s management to take care of the welfare of players and to secure extra training programmes for the team.
New players include former Orapa United speedy winger, Lemogang Maswena. Rollers have also registered Tapiwa Nyamanjiva on loan from Orapa United.
Other players are Simon Bapaletswe (Nico Utd), Botshelo Mangena (Police XI), Aubrey Amseb ( Masitaoka) Christopher Lemme (Security Systems), Onkabetse Makhura (South Africa) Kabelo Seisa (SA).
