Over 70 children participate in third Paratus Shredders Bike challenge

16 Sep 2024

About 71 children participated in the third race of a four part series of Paratus Bike cycling challenge that was held Saturday at Kenmoir farm in Ruretse.

Organised by Lifecycle Bicycle Coaching and Tuition, the shredders cycling challenge usually takes place on a friendly skills course, in short, sometime twisty distances which are good for perfecting cycling skills of young riders.

The third race of the event was no different, as it provided a sandy terrain where young cyclists did distances of 20km, 10km and 5km. Despite the sandy course route, the young ones had fun as they proudly and confidently pedaled away at Kenmoir farm. While some came trained, others were not but enjoyed the course nonetheless as they fell off their bikes, picked themselves up and continued with the race.

The Paratus Bike Shredders challenge is credited for building mental strength and confidence of young cyclers and giving them motivation to want to be the best in the sport.

Event organiser, Gobona Mantle advised parents during an interview, to train with their children more often, to prepare them for races. She said she was impressed with the children’s performance, adding that they had a smooth jeep track route compared to other shredders’ challenges.

“Young shredders should start preparing for the last race of the year of Paratus Shredders Bike Challenge as it will be more challenging with loose rocks and sandy route.

This route will need young riders to train more and prepare well for it therefore, I urge parents to ensure children take part in their training plans,” Mantle said, adding that preparations for the last race would start right away. Ends
