Government is optimistic that PRS Family Trust, a company of investors from Germany with keen interest in the hospitality, tourism and mineral space, will expand its investments in Botswana.

Company founders and operators, Mr Rainer Schorr and Ms Petra Schorr paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi at the Office of the President  yesterday. The President expressed eagerness for the company to expedite its investment initiatives in the country.

“We are looking for credible investment partners, and we appreciate the substantial contributions you have already made,” said President Masisi.

Dr Masisi also outlined a new strategy to revamp the country’s investment approach, underscoring Botswana’s stability and democratic principles as key factors in attracting global investors.

He said the country was refining its skills and advancing technology to position itself as a prime destination for investment.

Giving an overview of PRS Family Trust, Mr Schorr said the company specialised in private equity, asset management, and international investments.

He noted the company’s diverse real estate portfolio across Europe, including its headquarters in Berlin and operations in the United Arab Emirates, with Botswana representing its latest venture.

Mr Schorr said the company  began its investments in Botswana two years ago, and was currentlty upscaling the local tourism and hospitality sector through the construction of the five-star hotel and game park in Tuli Block,  expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Additionally, Mr Schorr revealed that the company had been in discussions with other potential investors interested in establishing green energy production in Botswana. He pointed out that Gaborone currently lacked world-class hospitality infrastructure, stressing the need for quality accommodation and conference facilities, including a five-star hotel.

The company has acquired Lotsane Farm near Moletemane within the SPEDU region and transformed it from cattle farm into a high end tourism and hospitality facility.

The investments on the farm so far include a renovated Lotsane Limpopo Luxury River Lodge which has 14 rooms and a luxury tented camp.

Total investment to date is P500 million with 90 people engaged in construction and 50 permanent employees mainly sourced from the surrounding villages of Moletemane and Tsetsebye. ENDS
