08 Sep 2024

Barlorworld Equipment (BWE) is committed to leverage its resources, influence and expertise to support initiatives that foster positive change.

As such BWE always believed  that success was not measured by  its  milestones but by the positive impact they had on communities they served.

The Operations Manager of BWE Mr Modiri Thanke, said this during Orapa Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines(OLDM) GM’s charity walk recently.

BWE which was the main sponsor, injected P1 million in the OLDM GM’s walk.

Mr Thanke said the walk was a prime example of how Corporate Social Investment could extend beyond traditional boundaries, creating opportunities for real and meaningful impact.

Mr Thanke  said their partnership showed shared commitment to building a stronger and healthier communities. He said combined efforts make tackling challenges more effective as they come out with sustainable solutions that would benefit everyone.

“As we embark on the collective effort for the GM’s walk, let us remember that every step we take symbolises progress towards a brighter future,” he said.

Each stride he said was a commitment to supporting those in need, enhancing community well being and fostering a culture of kindness and generosity. General Manager of OLDM Mr Mogakolodi Maoketsa, said that funds raised through 2023 charity walk would go towards the refurbishment of a theatre at Rakops Primary Hospital estimated to cost over P4.2 million.

“Year in year out, we set demanding targets, every year we challenge ourselves to raise the bar higher,” he said. The whole idea he said was to raise more money for meaningful and impactful community projects.

Mr Maoketsa indicated that in 2023 they committed to raise not less than P3 million and were able to raise 3.7 million. A large chunk of the money he said had gone towards the construction of a classroom block comprising of two classrooms at Mmea Primary School.

Mr Maoketsa stated that for the year 2024, they committed to raise P4 million, and by close managed to raise P5.2 million with less costs. ENDS
