Tebogo takes to track

Zurich, Switzerland will get to witness the athletics man of the moment, Letsile Tebogo today.
Botswana’s sprinting sensation is expected to continue with his dominance in the 200m as he competes at the Weltklasse Zurich Diamond League.
Tebogo has been ruthless on the track, as he has won all the Diamond League races he featured in this season.
Straight from the Olympics, he went to Lausanne where he finished first beating Americans, Erriyon Knighton and Fred Kerley.
‘Turbo-Go’ then shot straight to the Silesia Diamond League where he demonstrated that his win in Lausanne was not a fluke, as he finished in position one once more.
During the race, Alexander Ogando of Dominican Republic and Kenneth Bednarek were at the receiving end as they finished in position two and three respectively.
Tebogo continued to cause havoc in the Diamond League, as he landed in Rome and like a tornado, unapologetic and uncompromising, proved wrong all those who said he was not strong in 100m.
He finished first in style with a time of 9.87 beating Americans, Christian Coleman and Kerley, who were race favourites to win.
Today, once again, he will line up against four Americans, namely, Bednarek, Kerley, Knighton and Courtney Lindsey, while from Liberia there is Joseph Fahnbulleh, Dominican Republic’s Ogando and Timothe Mumenthaler from Switzerland. The meet tickets are sold out, and Letzigrund Stadium will be packed to the brim, and some of the athletics pundits are of the view that, Lindsey, who beat Tebogo at the Kip Keino in April, should watch out as he would be coming for him.
However Tebogo’s personal coach, Kebonyemodisa ‘Dose’ Mosimanyane, said they will be using the race to prepare for the Diamond League final meeting to be held in Brussels, Belgium next week.
“We are already in the 200m final so there is no pressure today to collect maximum points, and like I have mentioned before, we train through competition and then recover in between,” he said. The coach said they have been resting and having massage sessions since the Rome Diamond League meeting.
In today’s race, Mosimanyane said he would be looking to see how Tebogo will take the bend given that it was something they have been focusing and working on this season.
“There is still room for improvement there. In terms of results, we do not have any pressure at all, our focus is the finals,” he ended. Ends
