Hosanna collaborates with Dube Sobetwa

Hosanna Gospel Singers are a force to reckon with and their performance over the weekend during their live recording session, collaborating with multi-award winner, Bishop Benjamin Dube and Yanga Sobetwa, both from South Africa, was a masterpiece.
The event marked the group’s second project following the success of their debut album titled, Beginning, which captured the hearts of many gospel enthusiasts.
Kickstarting the event with their soul stirring harmonies and powerful vocals, Hosanna Gospel Singers managed to set the tone that many had anticipated.
Pesalama Motshodi serenaded the crowd with a worship song titled, His name is Jesus, Botho Musha too did her best with the Maikano track.
Wada Matebele and Phenyo Sedio also kept the audience on their toes with songs E le teng and Ba lo ratang Jeso respectively.
The group’s energy and passion as well as their coherence and accordance for their craft was evident in every note they sang out. The picturesque setting was also made to fit the event.
Hosanna Gospel Singers did a tribute song to Dube, honouring him as an icon who inspired them since their breaking into the industry. Dube’s performance of Your grace, a track originally sang by Hosanna Group Singers created an extra layer of depth and emotional connection to it.
The lyrics took the audience on a spiritual journey, inspiring and giving hope to attendees. The short prayer he took just after his performance also resonated with those who came to witness the collaboration.
Idols South Africa winner, Sobetwa also mesmerised her audience. She performed Ke ka thomo ya moya, a song composed and arranged by Hosanna Gospel Singers. She also took to stage her fairly new track Jeso o ntekane, which settled well in the hearts of many.
Dube is a household name in the gospel industry, he is known for his vocals that give hope and inspiration. Similarly Sobetwa, a rising star in the industry is also creating waves in the industry.
In an interview, the founder and lead singer of Hosanna Gospel Singers, Nico Matlapeng said the collaboration with Dube and Sobetwa was an advantage to the group to gain exposure across the border.
He said the fusion of different styles and voices of both artists featured would also help to change the narrative of the landscape of gospel music locally.
“This collaboration is a pollination of artistry skills between local and international artists, it also shows that music knows no boundaries,” he said. ENDS
