Molao commends church for promoting government programmes

The Healing Powers of John Church in Shashe Mooke has been commended for encouraging its members to take up government programmes that aimed at enriching their lives.

Officiating at the ordination of the Church’s Bishop, Mr Moagisi Oabile on Sunday, the Minister of Agriculture, Honourable Fidelis Molao, said it was imperative for people to understand that the government programmes aimed at helping Batswana despite their background or believe.

He highlighted specific programmes such as Chema Chema, Temo Letlotlo, and Thuo Letlotlo, which aim to empower citizens through income generation and food production.

These programmes are inclusive, serving everyone, whether they are believers or not, he said, urging the community to embrace the opportunities without fear of political affiliations.

Mr Molao reassured congragants that concerns surrounding penalties for failing to repay borrowed funds from these programmes were mere misconceptions, encouraging them to seek clarification from relevant authorities about the empowerment initiatives.

He advised the newly inaugurated Bishop Oabile, that he should work with the congregation leadership and advised him to stay connected with church members to address their concerns.

“Being a leader is not an easy task, but with guidance from your elders, you can succeed,”

Archbishop Cryson Madzonga also spoke at the event, noting that the Healing Powers of John Church had complied with the amended Societies Act of 2022 by successfully re-registering.

He highlighted the need for all church office bearers to undergo criminal background checks as a measure to combat criminal acts within the wider church community.

Additionally, Archbishop Madzonga encouraged congregation members to embrace government programmes, advocating for income generation through employment or entrepreneurship alongside their religious commitments.

He underscored the church’s focus on family building, noting the recent visit by Re a Nyalana Coordinator, Ms Annah Morwaagole, who encouraged marriage over cohabitation.

Bishop Oabile, in his remarks, expressed his determination to be a role model for young people, stressing that age should not limit one’s ability to take on leadership roles.

“It only needs a person to be responsible and refrain from any wrongdoing, he said.
