15 Aug 2024

His Excellency President Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi has hailed Tshimoyapula Village Extension Team (VET) initiative of building eight houses for the needy community members.

The ninth house was built by a businessperson and philanthropist Mr Fankie Kokoro of Kokoro Feedlot.

Presenting the houses, whose construction was the brainchild of and was spearheaded by Botswana Police Service’s Sergeant Stephen Pule, the President showered the officer with praises, saying such an initiative was exceptional.

Moved by the good deeds of Sergeant Pule, President Masisi said he used the powers bestowed upon him as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces to promote the officer from the rank of Sergeant to Sub-Inspector.

Dr Masisi wished other countrymen could borrow a leaf from Sergeant Pule, whom he described as Vision 2036 compliant.

He lauded VET for an outstanding job, which he said embodied the spirit of self-reliance, pointing such village structures were critical in attaining Vision 2036 aspirations.

Moreover, he commended the villagers for working in unison with public servants to deliver optimum out-put, noting that they were aligned to the President’s goals, aspirations and views.

Through the project themed; Mindset Change; Engineering Teamwork as a Community Social Responsibility, Tshimoyapula has demonstrated one of the village leadership’s endeavours of recognising and supporting the noble course of empowering the community by embracing the Mindset Change initiative.

The eight beneficiaries; Ms Eyeme Lebogang, Messrs Rabashi Keerilwe and Bonang Molepo, Ms Kebalese Basinyi, Ms Gabaakelwe Kegopotse, Ms Oreganeditse Makgetho, Ms Tshupo Tshae,  Ms

Poitshego Baetseng and Ms Johanne Manamena  were registered with Serowe District Council as destitute persons, orphaned children and potential destitute persons, who were in the list of those in dire need of shelter.

On another issue, President Masisi pleaded with the residents to exercise their right to vote in the coming general elections. ENDS
