Masisi to open Mindset Change celebration
13 Aug 2024
It has been a year since President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi launched the Mindset Change campaign which purports to cultivate transformation by encouraging a shift in attitudes and perspectives in Botswana.
It is against that backdrop that President Dr Masisi is expected to officiate the National Mindset Change first anniversary to be held at Seronga on Wednesday.
The commemoration, which will bring together representatives from all districts across the country, will be broadcast live on Botswana Television and other media houses.
The Mindset Change campaign is envisioned to address the thinking and behaviours of people across sectors to positively impact the way of doing business.
The campaign was, therefore, set to drive transformation and cultivate a collective change in attitudes and perceptions and to push the country towards attaining Vision 2036 pillar of prosperity for all.
Since the launch, the campaign mainly focused on raising awareness for Batswana to align with the concept.
The first anniversary is expected to be a moment for the country to reflect on the progress made and re-affirm commitment to the principles of self-reliance, innovation, resilience and sustainable growth.
In interview with BOPA, Okavango District Mindset Change coordinator Ms Tshegofatso Sejeso said the event would be celebrated by recognising the beauty of Botswana and potential of Batswana. She therefore said the celebrations had a competition on two categories of beautification and business ideas by communities.
Through the beautification concept, she said communities were encouraged to clean and beautify their environment from their homes, wards, villages and district as a whole whilst the business idea concept encouraged unity as it targeted groups of at least five people with a business idea that could develop their locality.
Ms Sejeso said the Okavango District has held the competitions and selected the winners in the two categories. She said the winners would represent the district contesting against winners from other districts. ENDS
