Access road part of project

Kgotla and Semotswane Primary School are considered part of Semotswane, Mandunyane and Mathangwane road project.
Answering a question in Parliament on Wednesday, Minister of Transport and Public Works, Honourable Eric Molale said all kgotla accesses which fell within 10-kilometre Access Policy, including other public institutions, were being constructed as part of the road project.
Minister Molale said the project followed request by Member of Parliament for Tonota, Mr Pono Moatlhodi to consider constructing Tonota West Kgotla access road as part of Semotswane, Mandunyane and Mathangwane road project.
He said a team from the ministry accompanied by a representative sent by the area MP undertook a site visit on November 17 last year to assess the cost implication of the request.
He however said preliminary cost assessment indicated that P106 million would be needed for constructing the additional road.
“The scope of the project includes the construction of a bridge across Tholodi river and a 7km access road from Semotswane Primary School via the new stadium site up to Tonota West Kgotla. If funds permit, the request would therefore be considered,” he said.
Mr Moatlhodi had asked the minister to apprise Parliament on the construction of access road from Semotswane or via Take No Time junction through Tonota West ending at Tonota West Kgotla and the cost of the project as well as the duration. Ends
