Some teachers in the Okavango District have commended the Conservation Coaching programme which target upper primary learners in the Ngamiland region.

The Conservation Coaching programme which is facilitated by Wild Entrust organisation equips learners with knowledge on conservation.

In an interview recently, a teacher at Kathiana Primary School in Shakawe, Mr Obakeng Mombandero said the programme helped learners grasp the importance of preservation of trees and other natural resources.

He said through the programme, learners would become responsible adults knowledgeable on conservation and therefore expressed that the program should start with lower primary learners.

Another teacher, Ms Elinah Mulenga of Xhaoga Primary School said the programme  cultivated the spirit of team work among learners as well as discipline. Gani Primary School teacher, Mr Gofaone Kisietswe also commended the programme saying it benefited both learners and teachers on significance of conservation of natural resources and the environment.

Coaching Conservation programme facilitator from Wild Entrust, Ms Patience Isaacs said the workshop was meant to sensitise stakeholders in the Okavango district about their programme.

Ms Isaacs observed that the Coaching for Conservation had partnered with Ministry of Education through a five-year Memorandum of Understanding.

She said the Coaching Conservation programme nurtured relations with children in the Ngamiland region to experience wildlife in a positive way.

Ms Isaacs therefore said the program targeted students in standard five-to-seven and taught them the importance of caring for themselves and their environment. She said the aim was to produce a well-rounded student.
In her remarks, Kathiana Primary School head, Ms Phetso Ditshimologo said that Ministry of Education and Skills Development valued stakeholders since they helped to nurture  future of learners. ENDS
