Minister of Defence and Security, Mr Kagiso Mmusi has announced the appointment of Mr Katlholo Mosimanegape as Botswana Police Service Deputy Commissioner for Operations.
Mr Mosimanegape will oversee BPS operations and joins other Deputy Commissioners in Mr Busang Lesola, Deputy Commissioner for Crime Investigations and Mr Solomon Mantswe, Deputy Commissioner for Support Services.
Speaking during the pin-on ceremony on Wednesday, Minister Mmusi commended Mr Mosimanegape on his new appointment and urged the entire police service to offer him support in executing his new role.
“I would like to formally extend my congratulatory message and well wishes to Mr Mosimanegape on his new appointment by the President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi,” Minister Mmusi said.
Mr Mmusi said such an appointment carried with it a great sense of respect and responsibility, thus expectations were high for the new deputy commissioner to play a meaningful role in the police service.
Mr Mosimanegage vowed to help the BPS live up to its mandate of ensuring the safety and security of the people of Botswana and support the Commissioner on her road map to turn BPS into a law enforcement agency of repute.
“As the Deputy Commissioner, one has to work within the BPS Commissioner’s roadmap, and she already has a roadmap. Therefore, we all as her deputies have to coordinate various units towards the accomplishment of the BPS mandate and commissioner’s roadmap,” he said.
Mr Mosimanegape joined the BPS in 1983 as a police sergeant and worked his way up and held various leadership positions within the police service. ENDS
