Government procures vehicles

Shoshong Senior Secondary School along with Mahutagane Junior Secondary School received a 4x4 double cab Isuzu vehicle each from the Ministry of Education and Skills Development.
Handing over the vehicles on Friday, Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development Mr Aubrey Lesaso said the cars were meant to improve service delivery and enhance teacher’s efficiency in delivering the curriculum.
“A car just like water and food is a necessity. I have realised that larger cars were required and schools needed a lot of facilities from stationary to furniture and more needs to be done to enhance efficacy at schools,” he said.
For his part, Shoshong Senior Secondary School head, Mr Batshidi Tsae appreciated the noble gesture from the Ministry of Education and Skills Development pointing it was difficult to run school errands without a vehicle citing it would be a blessing during emergencies.
He said the last time they had a car was in 2021 and were relying on borrowing from other schools.
Mahutagane Junior Secondary School representative, Mr Peter Rakeresie also appreciated the gesture counting the school lucky to have received the nobble learning aid pointing it would go a long way in improving academic results.
Mr Rakeresie said they have been operating without a vehicle since 2007 and were surviving from kind gestures from teachers for transportation.
Moreover, he said that many companies donated stationary and computers to them, but they failed to collect them due to lack of transport. Principal Education Officer, Mr Godfrey Makaba remained optimistic that availability of transport in both schools would bring positive results. Ends
