24 Jun 2024
Ramotswa District Council (RDC) is committed to providing sustainable livelihoods and effective local governance premised on enabling economic growth in mining, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and services sectors.
MP for Ramotswa, Mr Lefoko Moagi said this at the unveiling of the council’s new logo on Friday.
Mr Moagi who is also Minister of Minerals and Energy said RDC was clearly aligned as players in Botswana’s development as it had succinctly arranged its branding for posterity.
“I am reliably informed that the brand mark represents our culture and heritage, totem, kgotla, bogosi, governance, our natural resources, innovation and the seed that speaks of our growth as a people. We have come a long way and I applaud you all for always coming together and giving your best to Gamalete” he said.
Mr Moagi said the decentralisation of administration that took place during the transformation of national administration centres saw the start of a shift towards attaining self-sufficiency for all municipalities in delivering socio-economic development services, infrastructure, and through effective and efficient local governance for environmentally sustainable development and improved lives for all.
He said that required people-centred leadership and that team spirit that RDC portrayed which would propel the district to be the standard bearer for other districts in delivery and efficiency.
Mr Moagi urged RDC to continue pursuing good governance as the cornerstone to service provision as it instilled confidence and inspired trust in the community.
He said the transformation in the district was progressing as per schedule as close to P1 billion worth of developments had been pronounced for the district.
Mr Moagi said some projects were already at different levels of construction and others would commence during the current financial year.
He said RDC had demonstrated in its infancy that it was committed to being a game changer in local administration by way of branding and identity.
Mr Moagi congratulated the local authority on the new logo, renewed optimism and vigour that it had brought to the district council administration.
For his part RDC Chairperson, Mr Zaahid Jalal said they started the rebranding journey last year based on the resolution that “re tsenya mo tshikeng” loosely translated to keeping blood in our veins flowing.
He said the council was aligned with the National Transformation Strategy, intended to act as a catalyst for private sector led economic growth, adding that they were on track to reach targets by 2036.
Mr Jalal said the winner of the logo design competition was 4th ID, a creative design firm of young Batswana. ENDS
