Botswana bags four medals

Botswana Chess Federation (BCF) junior team has bagged four medals and finished third at the just ended 15th Africa Youth Chess Championship held in Johannesburg, South Africa recently.
The team won gold medal in the under 18 category courtesy of Women Fide Master and team captain, Naledi Marape, while Maya Otimile and Reddy won silver and bronze respectively in the under 14 category.
Saishanvi Nalamalpu won bronze in the under 8 category.
BCF public relations officer, Goitsemodimo Makgatle said in an interview that the championship was a top tier and a highly competitive event, which attracted junior chess players from all African countries.
Botswana had sent a team of 12 players to take part in the U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18 categories. ENDS
