Multitudes bid Modiakgotla farewell

The cold Saturday morning breeze did not deter mourners who thronged the Modiakgotla homestead in Kanye to pay their last respects to Mr Thato Modiakgotla who died on June 9 after a short illness.
Speakers described the late Modiakgotla as an obedient and loving individual who was friends with everyone.
His friend and colleague, Mr Marvin Motlhabane said Mr Modiakgotla was like a mentor to many during their school days.
He said he was a go getter who always ensured that he got what he wanted, adding that even though they were in a foreign country, he managed to purchase a car.
“He was very good in saving money even though we were just getting a living allowance,” reminisced Mr Motlhabane.
His uncle, Mr Ben Letsholo said Modiakgotla’s demise hurt not only the family but the community at large.
He said they were still reeling from the shock of his nephew’s death, adding that they were expecting a lot from the late Modiakgotla whom he described as a good natured individual who always wished good for everyone.
Mr Letsholo said he was very obedient and never talked back when being reprimanded, saying he took the responsibilities of looking out for his family at a tender age.
Another colleague, Mr Tiroyaone Letlhatshane described the late Modiakgotla as a gentleman who was neatly dressed at all times.
He went on to say that at work Mr Modiakgotla was always on time and was willing to go an extra mile to get the job done.
The sentiments were shared by Mr Emmanuel Tlale who was the deceased’s supervisor.
Mr Tlale said Mr Modiakgotla was a hard working individual who was always eager to work and deliver results well on time.
Some speakers described Mr Modiakgotla as a well-polished diamond who inherited his good traits from his parents.
They said he was destined for greatness as he had good business acumen. He was an avid farmer who regularly went to the cattle post during his spare time.
A first born child in his family Mr Modiakgotla 42, leaves behind his mother, two brothers and a daughter.
He started his primary school at Sebego, Motsatsi and Diabo then went to Mookami junior secondary school before completing at Seepapitso senior school.
He then went to do his A levels in Zimbabwe before going to Monash University of South Africa for tertiary studies.
Following completion of studies, he joined Mmegi newspaper as a marketing officer before joining the Department of Information Services in 2020 where he worked until he met his untimely demise. Ends
