Satellite FC has won the Francistown East Snooker Competition walking away with P2 000, trophy and gold medals.

Coloured FC came second and won P1 500, trophy and silver medals.

In individual prizes, Mboma Simon won man of the match and walked with P500.

Simon said the competition was a good initiative which could be used to bring young people together in a friendly and non-toxic environment.

Simon added that the monetary prices were an encouragement for them to strive harder to be victors all the time.

He also noted that the money could be used to invest into businesses to better their lives and to also improve their livelihoods.

The area MP, Buti Billy said residents had shown interest in the competition since the launch.

“Though others did not make it to the finals, it is worth noting that everyone has played a major role in making sure there are enough contestants for the finals,” said Billy.

Billy assured residents that the competitions would be held annually so as to help the sport grow nationally.

He also said games without rules never go far, so he advised players to set clear rules at the beginning of each competition so as to help control the games.

“The main aim is to empower each other and businesses. When participants buy food from liquor outlets hosting the games they give the businesses growth”, added Billy.

For his part, Aobakwe Motlhokwa, an attendant from Donga, said the competition should be an annual event in order for their essence and value to remain significant.

He said though with a bit of hiccups, the arrangements and setup for the competitions was very impressive.

He thanked MP Billy for giving them an opportunity to grow and experience sport.

Keneilwe Smith, Area W team captain, which did not qualify for the final, said the arrangements where well aligned to suit the competition.

He said his team was ready and prepared for the competition and though they did not qualify for the semifinals, he was impressed with the way the game turned out.

Smith said they e looked forward to next year’s game with better skills and experience. END
