Rapha Medical Centre, a 100 per cent citizen owned company, has been commended for providing good quality healthcare to Letlhakane residents.
Boteti Council Chairperson Mr Molemi Galeragwe made the commendation on Friday during the medical centre’s 10th year anniversary celebration.
He stated that the upgrading to a fully-fledged district, came with a lot of changes that, he said, would require more resources and improved services.
The gradual improvement and upgrading of the services would affect spheres of lives and required concerted effort from stakeholders including healthcare services, he said.
Mr Galeragwe said quality healthcare services encompassed not only infrastructural development, but also preventative, specialised medical services as well as modern digital e-health services.
“We now live in a connected world and it is important that healthcare provision also tapped in to the fourth industrial revolution for the betterment of our lives,” he said. He encouraged Rapha Medical Centre to plan for the future, noting that since the district was upgrading, the clinic was also expected to grow.
Mr Galeragwe indicated that while government was committed to building hospitals and improving public health services across the country, an improvement in the private medical space should also be seen, adding that government alone could not meet all health needs of its population.
Rapha Medical Centre managing director Dr Remotsaletswe Boithamako said the clinic started operations in 2014 with only two employees, being doctors. He said they were funded by CEDA at an initial investment of P125 000, indicating that through LEA mentorship programme, they were able to gain business skills.
He noted that besides patient care they also offered occupational health services to mostly mining companies and contractors. Rapha clinic, he said, now had a staff complement of 20 employees, adding that it offered a variety of services amongst them dental, radiology and physiotheraphy services. Ends
