Police in Old Naledi have launched a manhunt for a suspect in the murder of his girlfriend.
Old Naledi acting station commander, Assistant Superintendent Mike Gaoboe said they were informed of an incident by a passerby on Sunday morning.
“The passerby reported to the incident around 10am on Sunday morning that he saw a person by the roadside seated between pallets, but looking lifeless. We rushed there and indeed found a woman seated between the pallets as reported, and we took her to the clinic where she was certified dead,” he said.
Assistant Supt Gaoboe said that the woman, who had a single stab wound on the chest, was identified as a 24 year-old resident of Old Naledi who originated from GooSau ward in Thamaga and that their preliminary investigations indicate that she was likely stabbed on the scene.
“There was blood on the scene, but we did not find any blood tracks that might have indicated that she was stabbed elsewhere and carried to the scene,” he said.
He said that the woman and the suspected boyfriend did not stay together.
“We appeal, as we always do, that people should always seek advice when they have disagreements in their relationships, whether from the police, dikgosi, councillors, pastors or anybody that they might feel comfortable to confide in. Suicide is never a solution to relationship challenges,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tlokweng station commander, Superintendent Unoziba Rari said there were no fatalities or injuries experienced when a Modipane-Tlokweng combi overturned in Tlokweng this morning while transporting students.
“The combi was transporting students to various schools, and one of the rear wheels dislodged, leading to the combi overturning. Fortunately, all the 13 students and the driver were certified fit at the clinic and they were discharged outright,” he said. ENDS
