Tennis players on mission to better rankings

Botswana Tennis players are currently taking part in various competitions to improve their World International Tennis Federation rankings.
Mark Nawa, Esi Molefe and Seabo Saleshando are in Pretoria at the World ITF J60, Botswana Tennis Association (BTA) president, Oaitse Thipe stated in an interview.
Rethabile Moshaoa, Kagello Malumo, Mbali Tendai Nawa Qame and Maqawe Qame are in Bulawayo at the World ITF J30, while Ntungamili Raguin is in Uganda for the World ITF J30 Tournament.
Thipe said should they better their rankings, they stood a chance to qualify for Wimbledon and Junior French Open.
He said the association would send women’s national team made up of Ekua Youri, Leungo Monnayoo, Chelsea Chakanyuka and Kelebogile Monnayoo to compete at Billie Jean Cup Group 3 in Nairobi, Kenya from June 10 to 15.
Meanwhile, Botswana will host Tennis World Cup (Davis Cup) Africa Group V event that will be in Gaborone from July 15 to 20.
The 15 countries in Group V are Botswana, Ethiopia, Mauritius, Madagascar, Mozambique, Congo, Gabon, Seychelles, Mauritania, Lesotho, Djibouti, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan and Libya.
The countries will be competing for two spots to be promoted to Africa Group IV. ENDS
