The once powerful Mogoditshane Fighters were on Saturday relegated further down to Division One league. 

It was a painful scene as both players and supporters could not believe what had happened.

Coach Letang Molefi said it was a sad day for Mogoditshane residents as their favourite team had been relegated. 

He said being relegated to  the First Division South was not something they wanted, but that in football such events could happen.

He said the challenges the team endured over the season were one of the issues to be blamed for their relegation.

Coach Molefi said they had hoped that they would play better, but that his boys did not utilise the chances they had, adding that they had a difficult season.

He said he was worried that some players would leave the team, saying they fought with all they had but it did not work out as envisaged.City Polar coach, Ofentse Mapeu said they came into the game with nothing to lose and used fringe players to give them a chance to play. He said they were looking forward to promotion or the play-offs.

Coach Mapeu said they were top until the last four games when mind games  affected his players. However, he applauded his players for playing well throughout the season.

During the Saturday game City Polar opened the scoring account in the 37^th minute through Tlamelo Rantlole with Mogoditshane Fighters defenders caught napping.

After recess, Mogoditshane Fighters came back determined to equalise and created an avalanche of scoring opportunities chances but failed to put the ball behind the net.

The introduction of substitutions by both teams changed the play and style of the game. Thapelo Mosugadikobo scored the second goal for City Polar in the 62^nd minute after he came into the game. 

Koketso Mokgatitswane scored for Mogoditshane Fighters from a free kick in the 82^nd minute and it gave his team hope of finding an equaliser. However, City Polar held on to their win. ENDS
