16 May 2024

Botswana ace runners, Letsile Tebogo, Tshepiso Masalela and Bayapo Ndori will be in action at different meets this weekend.

Fresh from the World Athletics Relays, Tebogo will compete in his first 100m of the season at the 2024 USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix on May 18.

Tebogo will compete with Canada’s Aaron Brown, Malachi Murray, Jamaica’s Akeem Blake, Ghana’s Benjamin Azamati, Americans’Brandon Carnes, Kyree King and Elijah Hall.

On Sunday, Ndori will compete in 400m and Masalela in 800m at the Rabat Diamond League Meet.

In 800m, Masalela will be against Adrian Ben of Spain, Moroccos’ Abdelati El Guesse and Moad Zahafi Kenya’s Wyclife Kinyamal, Emmanuel Koror and Emmanuel Wanyoni, Ludovic Le Meur Yanis Meziane of France, Ben Pattison and Daniel Rowden of Great Britain.Ndori will be against Nigeria’s Emmanuel Bamidele, Morocco’s Hamza Dair and Alexander Doom of Belgium, Quicy Hall of USA, Jamaican Rusheen Mc Donald and South Africa’s Lythe Pillay.

Ndori said in an interview that he was ready as he aimed to redeem his pride after not performing well at the Doha Diamond League, where he finished sixth with a time of 45.57 something he attributed to fatigue from the World Athletics Relays.

“Now that I am better let’s see how I handle Rabat Diamond League this time around, and it will be perilous for people to judge me with Doha results, because I was very tired,” he said.

He said he would be running his last Diamond League before the Paris 2024 Olympics.

“I will hear what the coach has to say but I think we might compete at the Africa Senior Championship in the relay.

The ultimate goal is to try and win a medal at the Olympics, so we have to be careful not to go to the Olympics drained, because expectation is that we are going to go three rounds,” he said. ENDS
